The first week of June we had the pleasure to spend some time with Serena Conti, one of the great designers of the Denim Gallery. Following her victory, she came back at our Creative Area to claim her prize and create her interesting project.
“Towards a Transparent Denim Industry”: This is the title of the exposition that Tonello is using for its participation in the Bangladesh Denim Expo 2017, being held in Dhaka the 8th and 9th of November. The display will offer an overview of the steps taken by Tonello company towards a greater transparency in the industry. It will be presented on 9 November, beginning at 11.30 a.m., in the seminar hosted by Alice Tonello, the company’s R&D director.
At the New York Denim Days, which took place between 30 September and 1 October, visitors had the opportunity to admire the whole Denim Gallery project, and get to know the designers who took our challenge: Grace Warland, Matias Sandoval, Serena Conti, Su Kim & Jon Rouleau, Mika Mitarai, Juan Manuel Gomez, Ilinca Trif, Stefan Vella, and Greta Giannini.
After the first part devoted to “Reality” and presented in April in Amsterdam, Tonello exhibits the panels dedicated to “Vision” in New York.
Once again, designers from all over the world have painted, stained, scrambled, and abused denim in every possible way, using it as a canvas to express themselves freely, mixing different languages and artistic tendencies: poor art and material, action painting, conceptualism…
“From Ideas to Technologies”: This is the title of the exposition that Tonello is using for its participation in the Bangladesh Denim Expo 2017, being held in Dhaka the 17th and 18th of May. The display will offer an overview of the new trends in denim finishing materials. It will be presented on 18 May, beginning at 11.00 a.m., in the seminar hosted by Piero Turk – one of the internationally recognized gurus of denim – and by Alice Tonello, the company’s R&D manager.
Another new project from Tonello: Denim Gallery, is a bona fide display of “dreams and visions of reality”, as told by 10 Designers from around the world who have used Denim as their canvas for painting, staining, and assaulting in order to express themselves with artistic languages, materials, and concepts. The installation will be one of the coolest events of the 2017 edition of Kingpins and Blueprint, scheduled in Amsterdam from April 19 to 22.
